Does it make good business sense to integrate across the different lines of business represented by Lifestyle Resorts and Home-Away Hotels? What exactly would you integrate (beyond financial information) and why? The way thing has been with Homestyle hotels, it would make sense to integrate across the different lines of business. Before an information management policy can be implemented, Homestyles hotels need to sort out the problem between divisions and executives. Also they need to specify which division handles which part of the work. Resort division deals with tours and conventions while the hotel division handles with customer contact and reservation side. By differentiating the division it will clear the vision for both organizations. Executives need to understand and eliminate the common complications that prevent effective communication. Operational information will allow higher management to see advantages and disadvantages of the system. It will develop the potentials that both line of business could profit from. Human resource information will allow management to track down any of the employee’s data, payroll and benefits. According to Margaret Rouse, “Business intelligence is a technology-driven process for analyzing data and presenting actionable information to help corporate executives, business managers and other end users make more informed business decisions” (Rouse, 2014).
