I found a professional to interview and I set up the interview. I opened, processed, and closed the interview, while keeping my interviewing responsibilities in mind. I asked open and closed questions in my interview schedule to gain useful information. I interviewed Jennisa Visram. She is a buyer for coats, swim, active, and intimate apparel at Macy’s Backstage. I identified my interviewee using LinkedIn. I looked for buyers that graduated from FIT. I signed up for a free trial so I could email her and ask for an interview. I prepared questions and had them printed out in front of me. I did well as an interviewer. I made a positive first impression by dressing appropriately. I wore a professional blue suit. I clarified the goals of the interview. I articulated my questions appropriately and took notes. I thanked her for her time and after I sent a thank you email. A difficulty I encountered was my nervousness. I am very shy and it can be difficult to establish rapport. I was a little awkward. I am satisfied with the answers I received. The questions and answers will help me gain a competitive edge. I can live vicariously through her experiences. I think I did make a connection with her because she saw my passion for buying, Macy’s, and off-price. I told her how much I loved my Fashion Merchandising class and how I enjoy completing projects on …show more content…
All of her imports were being held there, so she didn’t have new goods for the store. Before this happened, she used part of her Open To Buy for backup inventory in case of emergencies. She had enough backup inventory to keep the store stocked with new items. Her friend that was a buyer did not have any backup inventory and she had a hard time scrounging for merchandise. Also, I should always have a small amount of Open To Buy available in case Prada wants to sell me sunglasses. My boss would be irritated if I could not buy the sunglasses because I didn’t have any Open To Buy

I interviewed Dr. Nora Reilly who works at Radford University in the Psychology department on March 2, 2016. I had a class with Dr. Reilly last semester in industrial/organizational psychology. I interviewed Dr. Reilly in her office in Russell hall, which was a little disorganized with her packing her things for the move to the new building. She was wearing a pantsuit like she typically does and her hair is short and gray. I thought she would be an interesting person to interview because she is not the “typical” female.…

I wish I used less fillers and mazes and was more precise. Sometimes, I would use too much selective attention, for example I focused so much on the interviewee’s family relationships and reciprocal treatment, that I forgot to ask about her resentment for putting others first. I also could have questioned her coping skills regarding her family’s laxity. Whereas in interview one, I believe my strengths included providing great minimal encouragers, nodding my head, counselor congruence, and showing greater interest.…
