The stage 5 assessment Persuasive writing allows students to focus on a topic that has particular interest for their writing and to write in a format that they feel most comfortable with allowing the assessment to be student centred and authentic. Sam chose an issue close to home writing against the building of the freeway in his community. Similarly the Stage 4 assessment My Story, Your Story gives students more structure to the style of writing however the students still have the ability to incorporate their own interests and experiences into the work selecting and influential Aboriginal to society; seen in the work of Kelsey who has chosen the footballer Adam Goodes who influences society both on and off the field.
