Statement of the Problem The purpose of this project is to gather information about Land Surveying (real estate) as a requirement for BUS 327 Principles of Real Estate at Wayne State College. Specifically, the study seeks answers to the following key questions:
1. What is the demand for real estate surveyors as a possible career? What educational background does real estate surveyor need to possess?
2. What are the various reasons that people seek the services of a land surveyor?
3. What do surveyors actually do (day in the life a surveyor)? How is a property survey conducted? Are there specific requirements for the survey report?
4. How long is a survey good for?

Wayne State College, like most, does not offer a specific degree for surveying. Although, there are a select few choices of schools that do. Www.bls.gov said that occasionally, when looking to become a surveyor, it can also be appropriate get a forestry, or civil engineering bachelor’s degree to become a surveyor. When looking at getting a degree in surveying, most schools are accredited by ABET. ABET is basically the standard for education in the surveying field. If the school is not accredited by ABET, chances of getting a job in the surveying business is less likely than a person who graduated from a school accredited by ABET. Many surveying companies require numerous years of experience before becoming a licensed surveyor. A survey will be the legal document for an area of land. According to godfreyhoffman.com, a professionally conducted survey will indicate where any easements are. It will also determine if something or someone is intruding on the property according to the land boundaries. If that is the case, then further legal actions may need to be taken if considered necessary.
