On the topic of immunizations, both of them stated being up to date as far as they know on immunizations. When asked if they received an influenza vaccine this season, however, they said no. When exploring the topic, Jared said he had no reason not to, just something his parents never had required. Levi on the other hand, was pretty adamant about influenza vaccines being a hoax by the government. Levi is at an obvious need for education on the subject. It made me wonder if the parents had taught this to them and if they were actually up to date on other vaccinations. Still, other health risks arise. Jared appears to have a healthy mental health status and no problems. Levi, on the other hand, when talking with me about his job, admitted …show more content…
They practice appropriate conversation and confrontation with each other, and are quick to help the other out. In addition, they have a strong correlation with parents, extended family members, and neighbors to create a large and trusting support system. They have strength in the area of being independent and handling bills and finances. Not to mention, they have a reliable source of income. Overall, this family has more strengths than weaknesses, but there are some to work on. Weaknesses include coping strategies (drinking, smoking, chewing tobacco), for Levi a job he is not happy with, and the status of the house they live in. For now, the house is okay, but I think they should set a goal for a time period to move out of the house. Such as move out in one year, get married in two years, and start a family soon after. Or for Levi, he may want to start looking for a new job in a month, or however long he can tolerate. It was obvious they had been told false information. It is important that they receive vaccinations to not only protect themselves, but others around them. If they are educated, then they can spread the word and advocate for others to become vaccinated as well. Further education could be taught about common household hazards that come with having an old house, safety in a farming community, how to prepare an emergency plan, nutritional information, hunting safety, and proper helmet use when riding ATV’s. Based upon what I learned from the men, it seems as though they live exciting lives filled with high-risk activities. A friendly overview about safety in those areas would be beneficial to
