Influenza Vaccination: A Case Study

i) It should be mandatory for nurses to get the influenza vaccination yearly.

ii) Many people believe that Health Care Workers should have the choice of whether or not to receive the flu vaccination.

Nurses will most likely be exposed to the flu while working in doctors’ offices or hospitals.

iii) Health Care Workers that chose to not get flu shots put themselves and their patients at risk, Health Care Workers who refuse flu shots are required to wear a mask at work all flu season, declining the flu shot will sometimes result in leave of absence or termination, if you do not agree with receiving a flu shot you should not be working in the Health Care Field.

23% of health care workers will still go to work if they have flu like symptoms.

Having the influenza vaccine reduces your chance at acquiring the flu.

Getting the flu when you’ve already had the vaccine will make symptoms less harsh.

Wearing a mask at work will help to protect yourself, your employees, and patients.

Health Care Workers already work in a risky field with many opportunities for illness to spread. The flu can be prevented and contained by having the vaccination, which will put themselves and all who enter the hospitals at higher risk.

"Requiring Health Care Workers to wear a mask at work will cause their patients to think they are ill or dirty". If nurses refuse to get the flu shot, they are required to wear a mask for a reason. It is dangerous for themselves because they are not protected against the virus, as well as if they have flu like symptoms and aren’t aware yet, they are putting their patients at risk for
