Droplets of spittle land on your skin. Out of these spittle spaceships emerge aliens. These alien invaders are bent on conquering the large body that is you. These aliens enter you through your nose, more specifically through your mucus membranes, commonly known as “mucus”. You inhale deeply, and these aliens are breathed into your lungs. Then they start infecting you, till you are taken down with malady. You might be wondering who these aliens are. These alien invaders are none other than influenza! All three major strains of influenza are known to infect humans. A infects humans most severely of the three. A is also responsible for many flu epidemics. This strain’s viruses is so strong, it can even infect animals. Wild birds often act as hosts to spread this strain, but you can even catch it from your pet. This strain is also spread through contact with surfaces touched by an infected person. B, on the other hand, can only infect humans. This strain’s viruses do not cause severe reactions, but can still be lethal. This strain’s viruses has, so far, not caused any known epidemics. Influenza C viruses are also found in people.
