It was my 8th-grade year, and we had a debate coming up. Our class was divided into six groups, each representing a presidential candidate. We were randomly assigned to our groups by Mrs. Nelson, our teacher. My ensemble consisted of people whom I had never worked with before, and though that can seem discouraging to some, I was still looking forward to collaborating with them.
When we first sat together, I made sure to introduce myself and ask each member what their interests were. This way I could see what we had in common, and what we didn’t. Yet I chose this one for two reasons. I chose it because this was a project where I was in charge of an activity for a long duration of time.
