Edgar Allen Poe’s writing is influenced by his life which brings about the terrifying topics in his pieces of work. As the video states “…tales of terror were born out of a life filled with tragedy.” Tragedy had occurred so many times in Poe’s life. Every woman he loved died of tuberculosis and his family was poor. The beginning of his life was miserable which changed his whole outlook on life. He could never get his catastrophes out of his mind. Another segment of the video states “…in Poe’s case, both his parents died early and his father was a failure, setting up a pattern Poe would follow through life.” This means that because Poe’s life started off dreadfully, he was bound to express his dreadfulness at some point throughout his life.
