Does the violence portrayed by the media influence the way people behave in today’s modern society? The contemporary world of today has been consumed by violence, and the media plays a significant factor in this consumption. Media violence is a growing phenomenon that has negative effects on people’s daily lives in modern society. Today, violence in media is witnessed on the internet, newspapers, television, or heard on the radio, and so forth. As a result, the violence portrayed by the media has its negative influences firstly on children, secondly women, and lastly the youth of today’s modern society. Firstly, media violence has its negative effects on children as it affects them in the way that they become less sensitive towards harming others, they become violent or aggressive, and they fear the world around them. Furthermore, males from age 16 to 17 are accused with the most amount of cases in 2011/2012 than the female population (Dauvergne, 2015). Media violence manipulates young people’s mindset into perceiving that everything they witness on television, the internet, or hear on the radio might be accurate.
