Overall, looking at the police, their main role, responsibility and purpose is to deter crime before it even happens. The positive factors of this includes the points mentioned above. For example, I think it’s essential for the police to keep good relations with the public because in a way, this could significantly increase the factors of potentially capturing more criminals. Not only would this be a way to engage with the public/ their audience, it would initiate conversations between them and the community. Therefore, the public will potentially see the police as someone who is trying to help them and to be their friend and prevent them from being harmed.

This is a disadvantage because it’s harder for people to engage with police officers or to even catch crime quickly. This doesn’t give officers and the community to communicate anymore. In essence, I think that there should be more police officers patrolling areas on foot due to increased gun crimes and terrorism. By police officers not being able to engage with their audience anymore, it doesn’t hold a strong bond anymore between the communities and so as people are more scared to go out, people may not have enough faith in the police to catch criminals or prevent it. Although they may be able to circulate throughout different areas or travel more distances in a car, it means that criminals/offenders can easily hide away from the police, whereas if the police were to go out on foot, they could potentially catch and deter offenders there and then.
