The way that we perceive things, can show parts of who we are. Before I began the day of no complaining, I was anxious. I took time to sit and reflect on what no complaining meant to me, and I realized that my conversations would be cut short. I realized that I perceive things, to occasionally, in a negative way. However, this exercise allowed me to have more time to focus on my attachment styles and self- serving prophecies. One thing that I learned about during my day of non-complaining is that I think that I have a secure attachment style. I decided to interview a family member that I thought had the best formed perspective of me, to help me learn more about myself. So, I asked my mother. My mom said that she believes that I have anxious attachment style. Another thing that I had time to consider during this day were my involvements in self- fulfilling prophecy. This fits in with the term Social Learning Theory. An example of how I have constructed myself and social learning theory connects, is seen through the way I speak. I have always surrounded myself with girls that constantly speak over one another. We all speak at the same time, but somehow we generally know what everyone said. I can see where I bring that into conversations that I have with everyone. I also believe that my self-worth has been contracted through social comparison. My mom says that I use to much social comparison to define myself. She believes that in today’s culture that defining yourself through social comparison has become a norm. For example, she sees this norm in me when I obsess over the Kardashian family. She says that I try to be like them in some ways (such as the way that they look), because my friends love them. She also stated that she thinks that I have a need for inclusion. For example, going back to my friends, she thinks that I feel the need to fit

Have you ever caught yourself allowing your mind to become an excellent servant but a terrible master? The most valuable lesson that I have learned in my life thus far is the notion that the quality of life that I live is dependent upon the way that I choose to think. The individuals that we are and the individuals we aspire to be are hypothetically supposed to allign; for it is how we think that’ll determine whether or not the person you are now will be the person you aspire to be. Through the analysis of my past, present, and future I will analyze my passion for baseball as a child and how it contributed to how my masculinity was formed, I will analyze David Foster Wallace’s “This is Water” commencement speech and how it has contributed to…

However, sceptics have questioned how the concept is sometimes interpreted, arguing that there is unclear logical and pragmatic examination of its value in professional development. Therefore, developing a reflective report is an undertaking that needs to be approached with caution, more so if individual reflection and critical thinking are to be rooted. The purpose of this reflective report is to reflect on the collaborative boat bus project performance and the experiences of working within a multidisciplinary group. The report will give consideration to the feedback we obtained from the client and from Adam Smith (tutor) and how we then applied this feedback to feed in the report writing. An iterative model, meaning learning through participating, somewhat adapted to the one in Bulman and Schultz (2013)’s ‘Reflective Practice in Nursing p232’, Gibbs (1988)’s reflective cycle explains the significance of the evaluation process, especially building on negative as well as positive feedback.…

When it came to important matters, such as sexuality, dating, violence in relationships, and finances, both of my parents took on the role of talking to us equally. Both of my parents always let my brother and I know that they would love us no matter what sexual orientation, a “preference for sexual parents of the same sex, the opposite sex, both sexes, or neither sex,” we were (Benokraitis, 2015). This made my brother and I feel very comfortable because we knew that we could talk to our parents about sexuality if we ever needed to. With that said, however, I do not remember a specific time where our parents gave us the “sex talk,” and even though we never received that talk from them we did receive it in other places like health class.…

I believe that I show a secure attachment style in my interactions with God and others. It is not a textbook secure attachment style because I find myself in different situations going between ambivalent and avoidant styles in a minor way. At times I want the attention from others, moving closer to them and trying to connect with them more. I am very content with where and who I am. I, in most things, feel that I am satisfied with myself and ability to interact with others.…

Overall my attachment style is that of the secure relationship style, but I tend to revert toward the avoidant attachment style at times. The majority of the time when meeting people I perceive them as able of loving me, and that, I, myself am capable of receiving love from that specific person. In certain scenarios when insecurity can creep in, I lean toward the avoidant attachment style by placing my value in myself and in my academic work. During these scenarios, when I allow my insecurities to momentarily triumph, I tend to believe that others are unreliable in meeting my needs, and that I must provide for myself. Fundamentally, I have a secure attachment style, because parents who always loved me, supported me, and were involved in my…

This attachment style often leads to dysfunctional and abusive relationships, as contributed by their negligent childhoods (Manson, 2011). As elaborated in the previous chapter, the adult attachment styles can be categorized using a four-category, two-dimensional model. In this model, the four attachment patterns are explained in the context of two dimensions: the positivity of self-model and other model. Alternatively, the self-model and the other model dimensions can be conceptualized in attachment anxiety and avoidance of closeness terms respectively.…

At least once everyday I have an interaction with people – whether good or bad—what determines the way I interact with people is my attachment style. An attachment style is simply the way in which I do relationships; and that attachment style is determined by my early childhood relationships. Throughout this semester we have discussed and practiced various techniques that can be used when working with clients. This semester at Loyola has enhanced my understanding of what it truly means to be a social worker, from the classroom perspective. In my field placement, I do not believe it is directly related to social work, but I was able to use a social worker perspective when interacting with the children in the program. This course was the only course that provided me with hands-on experience of engaging with different types of clients. In my other classes, we did not do case demonstrations instead, we discussed different theories and perspectives about individuals and family systems.…

One of my best friends in high school wanted to major in psychology and I often mocked him and poked fun at the idea that psychology was a real study and something to be taken seriously. Only after taking this psychology course, which I am forced to do in order to in order to pursue nursing, I have come to realize how little I even knew about the subject. I have judged people for enjoying the study and even worse, I have not taken seriously mental illnesses that affect some of the dearest people in my life. Something else that has been brought to my attention is the notion that I can be and have been extremely offensive towards my peers without noticing or even caring; sometimes both. To put it simply I have been an insensitive jerk for…
