A certain painting may beautiful to me but it may or may not be the same for others. We see art everyday and the ones that inspire us, reflect who we are today. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City is a place where I love to go and explore. My art history class helped me love art more. My favorite painting there is by an Impressionist artist named Claude Monet. His “Rouen Cathedral: The Portal (Sunlight)” has so much history and geniuses behind it. Monet made twenty-four of the same painting at different times of the day. Monet loved to paint in the moment and he went to a room each day and painted the Cathedral. Monet was studying light affects on color and how it could change the look of the building. He had a quick brush stroke pattern, because he wanted to capture the moments fast. As I sit here and listen to "Something More" by Bonnie Dune, I can't help but appreciate the power of music so much more... Because drawing was the only thing I fancied, every one figured it was “a phase I was going through and would grow out of it”. It never happened.…

I’m not sure why we humans have such a reaction to music, but it’s a very beautiful thing.…

I would consider my upbringing to have been fairly musical. Starting on my mother’s side with my mother; she tries very hard but lacks a sense of both rhythm and pitch however that never stopped her from singing me lullabies. Continuing on to the generation before my mom there is my grandmother who is very musical. I grew up playing guitar and singing/writing songs with my grandmother as well as with all her siblings who are very musically inclined. On my mother’s side the musical involvement stops there with my great-grandparents only musical contribution was singing at church.…
