The 1990’s produced many great works of poetry as well as many great poets themselves. Maya Angelou was one of the best poets of the 20th century. She was famous for several works from poetry to television throughout the 1900’s. Her most famous poem was probably the one she wrote solely for the presidential inauguration of Bill Clinton. Maya was invited to speak at the ceremony and she accepted the huge honor. On the Pulse of Morning received mixed reviews but made Maya more known then she had ever been before. Maya Angelou was a role-model for all African American artists and was well respected around the world (Harmon).
