For example, Real Madrid soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo was paid $1 Billion by Nike in 2016 to wear their boots. Junior soccer fans instantly wanted Nike’s boots because skilled players such as Cristiano Ronaldo wear their boots. An even more ridiculous example of celebrity endorsements was Brad Pitt’s Chanel advertisement in 2012. Pitt was paid $7 Million for a 30 second ad. It is bizarre that a celebrity can be paid so much money for an ad that is so short in length.
Celebrity Endorsements encourage teens to buy an item that isn’t needed with money they don’t necessarily have, under the reason that if a celebrity owns an item they must also have that item. Teenagers don’t need to waste their money on items that will make them “cool”. Just be yourself and be “cool” with who you are and what you already own. Attention adolscents, don’t be negatively influenced to waste your money on items you don’t need.
Celebrities have a negative influence on our teenagers through how they change their looks, their use of drugs, and their endorsement of products teens don’t need.
