Baseball:Playing on the Bermuda Grass
The best experience that I have had throughout high school was the baseball team. In previous years we have not made the playoffs or even come close to that goal, but my junior year was different. In the beginning of the season we came up with the common goal as a team to make it to the playoffs. This year it had felt different for me we felt like a totally different team and we actually wanted to win some games.
The baseball run started in January at our head coach’s winter baseball camps which is also where the whole baseball team helps run to help the little kids become better at baseball. This is where the team also met our pitching coach and infield coach. I was very excited to have a pitching coach

July 22, 2012 was one of my favorite days of my life, it was the day we won the Gopher State Baseball Tournament. We got to take a coach bus up to target field and walk on the field with all the other age groups that also won. On the way up no one could sit still we were all exhilarated to be on a Major League Baseball field. But before we get to that, we should start at the beginning of the season and the state tournament. It was my first year of Royals baseball…

The baseball diamond has a magical effect on my emotions, which produce so much energy it seems to take over my body and mind. I’ll never forget my first baseball glove and bat. It was spring time in 1983, the snow had finally melted, robins were singing on bare tree branches and the maple trees were blooming. My father took me into town driving our Burgundy 1980 Chevy Malibu Classic. As we parked the car, I asked my dad” what are we doing here”?…

My most positive high school experience for me has to be when I was inducted into National Honor Society for my senior year. This was something that I has been striving to do since my freshman year after I received my first academic letter. But after our school decided to only allow seniors to be inducted, raised the GPA requirement, and reduced the amount of people that would be allowed to be inducted I wasn’t sure if my goal would still be attainable. But after three years of strenuous classes, constant volunteer service, and keeping my grades up I finally received an acceptance letter and was inducted into NHS where I am able to surround myself with others that have the same academic goals as…

At the beginning of the year, Professor Fama told the Pre-Calculus class that our senior year would go by more quickly than any other year of our lives. I think now every member of the class of 2017 can attest to just how true this statement was. I know it sounds cliché, but it really does seem like just yesterday we were organizing homecoming, planning our senior trip, fund raising for our senior trip, finally going on our senior trip, decorating for prom, and enjoying our last Crusader Day, or, as we like to call it, Crudader Day. While it is the fun memories like those I just mentioned that tend to stick out in our minds, I think it is important that we also acknowledge the stuff that maybe wasn't so fun; the days we were swamped with homework, cramming for tests, finishing projects at the last minute, the time spent in classes that maybe weren't our favorite, the stress and hard work that went into planning some of our excursions, and all the other frustrations that tested us throughout the year. Whether we realized it in the moment or not, these struggles we faced were teaching us lessons just as valuable as what we were learning in academic classes; lessons about leadership, perseverance, the value of hard work, and, perhaps most importantly, teamwork.…

I was in the Marching Coyote Regiment, the pride of the school because the football team sucked.…

This year, I get to share another opening baseball day with over 50 thousand HCC students and countless alumni.…

I can say, undoubtedly, that my first year at The University of Alabama was one which taught me a great deal about myself. As an out-of-state student from Rhode Island, the transition from a relatively small high school to a large university was unmatched to anything in my life prior. While Freshman year naturally contained points of difficulty, I was able to overcome these obstacles and become more well rounded as a result. Upon graduation from Alabama, I hope to enroll in medical school where I wish to eventually pursue emergency medicine. Although I was initially uncertain of my academic abilities in such a distinctly new environment, I have since grown more confident of my competency at the University.…
