Government buildings throughout the world derive their styles to ancient Greece such as bouleuterion which translates to roughly senate house where representatives assembled to discuss public affairs. (http://ancient-greece.org/architecture.html) The buildings are similar in style to the capitals where senate and congress converge to discuss similar matters regarding modern society. Outdoor theaters were widely used in Ancient Greece for viewing of plays; their overall design produced great sound quality as well as good seating arrangement so that every person in the audience could fully dive into performances. The Gods of Greece were thought to have the same delightful taste of displays of physical excellence as mortal so various Gods were honored with individual competitions among Greeks. The most important being the Olympic Games which were held every four year in Olympia. The games consisted of running, jumping, throwing objects, and wrestling/boxing. People would flock to these locations to support athletes from their cities and victors were rewarded in a variety of ways in their home cities. Victors were often immortalized by poets and writers of the era for their gallant efforts. (Textbook pg. 51) This influences todays Olympic Games greatly such as the rewards/honors athletes receive in their home countries and the various competitions that are still around today along with the effect it has on countries coming together to support their own athletes while watching athletes from across the world to compete for greatness and legacy.
