Infinity Concept Of Life

Improved Essays
The concept of infinity is the closest thing that resembles how complicated life is. Take away one from infinity and you still have infinity; take away a complication from life and life is still complicated. One of those many complicated factors in life is responsibility, which is just another part of life that does not have a simple explanation. The complex nature of responsibility makes it difficult for me to give an absolute answer on what I perceive to be my responsibility, for all I can do is hope that how I live my life is the best way to deal with my responsibilities.
Over the years I have come to realize that I have a responsibility, to an extent, towards my friends and family to make sure that they are happy, healthy, and safe. When

Fifty years ago, it probably would not have been a big deal to pick up an unsuspicious hitchhiker, donate to charity, or investigate a baby carrier sitting on the side of the road. Today, hitchhikers can easily turn on you, many charities are scams, and the baby carrier on the side of the road is a gimmick that gangs do to get people out of their cars. Even though it is important to put others before ourselves, we should never be coerced to helping people when we do not want to. We can be persuaded, yes, but never coerced. People should have the freedom to help those they deem to need it. I should be allowed to drive by that baby carrier on the side of the road while dialing 911 to let the police know the situation. I have the right to be able to choose what I feel to be right and most responsible for. Considering global issues, I am responsible for more than I can comprehend, and until I find another way I cannot end global warming, world hunger, and slavery all in one lifetime; therefore, I will focus my energy in areas that I feel more responsible towards. I will volunteer at the animal shelter but not at a soup kitchen because I feel more connected to the helplessness of animals. I will focus on social issues dealing with those with disabilities and not racial minorities because having a disability is something I have experience with. I will help my old high school band with fundraisers instead of the football team because I understand how expensive instruments are and how important music is to not only myself, but others. Focusing my energy on certain responsibilities and not others does not mean I do not care for my other responsibilities or deny that they are there - it means that there are things that affect me on a personal level to the point that it feels like I am culpable when those I feel responsible for suffer

Peter Singer argues that most people will think that Bob’s action is unhuman and wrong than he remind us that we also have the opportunities to save children around the world from dying through organization such UNICEF or Oxfam America etc. By comparison, Singers states “…Bob’s situation resembles that of people able but unwilling to donate to oversea aid….”(203) Since the result of Bob not throwing the switch is that the child died, that can be said the same to the people not donating to help poor children results in children dying. In other word, Singers believes that if we think everything is wrong when it is involving children death then it is also wrong for not donating to the charities because it also leads to children’s death. Singer also provides a calculation and information on how much we need to donate in order to save a 2 year-old child.…

Where Singer's guideline dictates, “If it is in our power to prevent something very bad happening, without thereby sacrificing anything of comparable moral significance we ought to do it” (147). Narveson withstands that there is a division between principles in the abstract to be weighted against potential outcomes and policies that are “pursued in the real world, (where) facts cannot be ignored” (145). Further, what we are committed to do (justice) and what might be ethically virtuous for us to do, charity. Resisting arguments that we should compel others into action, Narveson states that while it is virtuous to aid to others, it is never it is never morally tolerable to force someone to be charitable. Charity depends on empathy and is an activity that flows from the heart.…

The Industrial Revolution, which took place from the 18th to 19th century, was a period during which mainly farming, rural societies in Europe and America became industrial and urban. Prior to the Industrial Revolution, manufacturing was often done in people’s homes, using handtools or basic machines. Industrialization marked a shift to powered, special-purpose machinery, factories, and mass production. While industrialization brought about an increased volume and variety of manufactured goods and an improved standard of living for some, it also resulted in often grim employment and living conditions for the poor and working classes. The beginning of the gold rush further exacerbated these conditions.…

Going back to my opinion, I still believe that it is good to help other people in need. They shouldn't be knows as some sort of evil ¨peasants¨ just for the fact that they are looking and needing for help. Most people don't even reach out for help, but people still go out to help them because it is just the right thing to do. I am also not saying that you should give money to every person you see and leave known for yourself. It is a great thing to be able to take care of yourself and strive for what you really…

There are many ethical dilemmas in our world that I wish I had the ability to change. In order to see a major impact in our society we first have to start by fixing the dilemmas around us. One of the biggest concerns in my community currently is homelessness. I see people everyday on the streets being dehumanized and disregarded by the people around them. This is the most important problem I would like to solve.…

I realized that I can still care about my wellbeing, while thinking about that of the people in my community. Through volunteer service, I contribute to bringing my community together and making it a better place to live. A particularly fond community service that I performed was assisting at the St George Day Fair. An annual event, the St George Day Fair embraces the St George area by providing numerous activities and performances for local residents. My job in particular was to teach children how to draw a dragon, since dragons were the main theme of the St George Day Fair.…

Do you believe that you are responsible for the safety and well-being of others? If you saw someone in the street in need asking for help, would you help them? Or would you just walk away? Most of you would ignore them and walk away. Others may listen, but probably not care to help them.…

It was a rainy Saturday night. I left my dorm, my stomach empty because I’d been trying to wait out the rain before going to find something to eat. But the rain didn’t end, and although it was quite late, I decided to make a quick trip to the store nearby rather than wait any longer. My umbrella was broken, so I put on my hoodie and tried to run as fast as possible. About halfway to the store, I saw an old woman with a folding walker, trying to get past the intersection while holding her umbrella.…

For as long as I can remember, my family has taught me that you are supposed to do good things, not looking for any reward. I have maintained this motto throughout my life. This shows true as my accredited service hours equate to almost 1000, just in these 3 short years of high school. I volunteer for the Hilton Raiders to be their teen coach, help in Make a Difference Day, and have participated in multiple walks to raise awareness for a numerous amount of causes. I feel that it is my responsibility as a functioning citizen, to participate in making our community a better…

I’ve never been able to decline help to someone in need. I always put everyone else's needs before my own because when I sacrifice myself in order to put a smile on someone else’s face it gives me peace. Contributing to a cause to make the world a better place is worth the sleepless nights. When one is passionate about helping people it won’t matter to them how long they have to go without food or how tired they will feel at the end of the day. Just this week, I’ve had several occasions where I gladly gave up my time to do people favors or help someone in need.…

There is, after all, more than a single person in world, and so long as that remains true, it is our duty to help one other. We are to feel compassion towards our neighbor and be a good Samaritan (Luke 10). It is our conscientious duty to help one another when the need is there. It always has been, is and will be that way until we leave this beautiful planet behind as a species. This provides the best outcome for the most amount of people.…

In this paper, I will argue that people who should be considered to be altruistic are those who act magnanimously to those outside of their family or general social group. I will use examples such as kin selection, animal altruism, and arguments against psychological egoism to assist in proving my thesis to be true. I will also address a counter argument made by some psychological egoists who believe that due to most people feeling pleasure while doing good things for others, that there are no people only act selfishly. I will reference James Rachel ’s essay “Psychological Egoism” to help enhance my theory that not all acts must be out of self interest.…

An elderly woman who got to take part in a high school community service project states, “Many think that volunteering is all about what you give. But what catches you by surprise is how much you receive in return.” This demonstrates why many people do not feel that they should give back because they do not believe the benefits that they can get from it as well. Consequently, when creating that feeling of happiness and satisfaction in someone else’s life, it comes back to the person creating it. Volunteering to help someone get tutored, help the handicapped, involve themselves with a program like Meals on Wheels, certain environmental work, etc., not only does one gain from that, but one’s community has been helped because of them.…
