The difference between Plagiarism and Self- Plagiarism is that Plagiarism is a form of academic dishonesty when used someone’s ideas, words or images as one’s own without properly crediting the person or citing the source of information. On the other hand, Self-plagiarism is a form of academic dishonesty by which a student uses an old assignment or part of previous assignment and submits it as new work without citing the original work. I believe self-plagiarism is a violation of academic integrity. As a student, we are encouraged to make our writing unique, original and creative.…

After reading and thinking carefully about the Unit 2 Case Study, I would rate the four characters in this way: Responsibility for Reggie's failing grade ***************************************** Reggie - 1 (most responsible) Arnie - 2 Sally - 3 Prof. Lovelit - 4 (least responsible) In my view, Reggie is most responsible for his own failing grade, due to his decision to: 1) not do the homework (reading), and 2) willfully take the essay from the internet and plagiarize. Arnie is number two on my list (in Reggie's failing grade), not because he also plagiarized, but because he was complicit in allowing his classmate to plagiarize. Arnie's response should have been to strongly remind a fellow student that plagiarism will only lead to a failing…

However, instead of pointing fingers at the students, the real issue comes from the lack of knowledge that the students have on plagiarism. I think that paraphrasing will be the hardest for me to avoid while writing. It seems that sometimes it is hard to write or summarize something that is so well written already. The way I will work around that is to stop and re-read what I am wanting to summarize, take a few important words out of the material I am reviewing and jot those down, then go back and write what is needed to complete my sentence or idea. Once I have completed my writing, I will review and make sure I have properly cited my work. Using the guidelines discussed in our “Read Section”, and following the instructions listed on how to source correctly should avoid paraphrasing mistakes and plagiarism.…
