As we grow up, we change and our interests shift: from wanting to be a princess, then hating the color pink, then that awkward ‘tweens to early teens stage, until, finally, you begin to know who you are, and accept that you are always learning in every subject of life- including about yourself. I believe that Reed will help me to discover more about myself and add depth to my knowledge and understanding in many diverse subject areas in different facets of my life.

From then on I was reading everything. However, I cannot give all of the credit to my mom. A couple of years later, my uncle, Donovan, started giving me reading assignments.
He assigned me everything from textbooks(starting in 4th grade) to classics like War and Peace (5th grade). When nobody else knew how to satisfy my hunger for knowledge, he invited me over, and we would watch documentaries while eating junk food, then he would show me some self defense, and, afterwards, would reveal his stash of books and send me home with an armload of them. He has always accepted my unquenchable thirst for knowledge, and helped to build me up. By reason that I have always had this burning desire to learn, it has been hard for me to feel challenged in my classes most of my life. I have always loved school, and this deep infatuation led me to be confused when people talked about disliking learning, or even going so far as to disrupt the class. Going to Reed would place me in a community of people who adore school, and more importantly, learning, to the same extent I do, and would provide an atmosphere in which I could discuss ideas from class with others who are just as driven as myself to analyze and truly understand what it is we are learning about.
One of the things I have learned over time is that I prefer small groups of people, especially in a classroom setting. Limited class sizes allow the students and professors to learn about each other on a deeper level, and to look and be looked at as more than just letter grades and awards. It also helps the flow of ideas, opinions and debates on the subject at hand. I have a preference for places where ideas will challenge and be challenged by both students and teachers with something more than grades and class ranking in
