Infant Vs Center Based Environment

Decent Essays
Education for an infant or a toddler on a center-based environment or a family based environment is a good as the people in charge of it. Arguably, some may prefer one method versus the other base on their own personal experiences. Incidentally, relatives and friend have told me about stories, positive and negative in both environments. Therefore, I continue to support that any environment is good, as long as either the caregivers or the family in charge of the ECE are doing their respective part for the benefit of the infant or toddler.

A-Binoojii Daycare in Crandon has gone through many changes over the past couple of months including moving into a new building and hiring new teaching staff. During our time working together, the teaching staff identified a need to work on the environment and especially how to best set it up to support their lesson plans as well as the children’s individual and group goals. This has been all new work for the staff and they have been working hard to consider ways that they can be creative in utilizing a new, but relatively small space. We spent time looking specifically at developmentally appropriate practice as it relates to exploration and play being supported in the environment as well as how that looks in action. The teachers discovered…

The first observation I did was at the Esmelda daycare, this daycare is a family daycare there the woman and husband showed me what they did every day they said that the toddler had hours for everything like what time they eat, how much time they had to play. Esmelda daycare promote language through play time she has book that help the toddlers learn the different animal or the ABC the woman would read the book to toddler by pointing to animal or letter and saying what it was she would also promote language by playing with the toys like counting how many Lego blocks there is or by saying the color of the toy right now. Esmelda daycare is not fully completed with all the material the toddlers need they are in process, but still not being a fully completed daycare you can see that the women and the husband take really good care of children when I was there as she was taking to me if the children need something she would stop and put attention to what the children need instead of just keep taking to me and ignored the child. Compare to the second observation did where each children age group has his own in Esmelda daycare see has all the children together he also has the toy room apart where they just go play when is play time and can’t go in until is play time again.…

Others are not able to at home due to economic reasons resorting them to choosing childcare. Today, non-parental care is showing to be a great alternative for many parents who require time from home in order to attend school or go to work. I support a center based childcare because it gives the child to interact with other children of their age and communicating with other children is so important when the child is young. Children who are around other children their age can learn and grow from one another. Children who are not socialized in the early years of their development will grow up lack skills to meet new faces and develop friendship and will tend to be shy unlike children who socialized during their tender ages (Bojczyk, Shriner & Shriner, 2012).…

Furthermore I also belie that all children have the right to learn and their learning be abundant with experiences, knowledge and quality, as well as feeling a sense of belonging to their community and learning environment. These beliefs are important to my teaching and my philosophy of early childhood eduction.…

The indoor environment of a home corner may be a little difficult for infants however toddlers and up love to role play and it is a big interest area in our service. Our children love to imitate what they see their parents do such as cooking, cleaning, changing nappies on babies, and even remember when they go to the doctor and using a pretend stethoscope. The indoor craft area is for all ages, infants just need to be more supervised than the older children as they are more prone to choking and hurting themselves. Obviously with this age group we will not use scissors, especially metal ones the children under two could use the plastic where they will not injure themselves. Infants love to touch and feel and create and this gives them a sense of agency.…

The infant I observed was about eight months of age and was placed in a classroom that usually has a relatively small number of infants for better one on one attention. As I completed my observation, I observed all five developmental domains which include physical, emotional and social, cognitive, adaptive, and language and communication.…
