Infant Care: Misinformed Mothers
I had always been fascinated with babies and their development has always intrigued me. I watched my little cousin, nieces and nephews grow up and every time they needed a babysitter I was their go to person. My aunts mentioned how patient I was with them. I now have my own baby and so far, it has been the most wonderful experience. Delilah is now seven months and I know still have a long way to go.
One thing that stood out to me when Delilah was born, was how differently my aunts and cousins raised their babies. My cousin did everything exactly how the doctor told her, and my aunt sometimes would take their recommendations. I had to be really opened minded when it came to Delilah.

The second priority intervention that I would have implemented is for the postpartum mom that I was assigned to. She had some concerns about having help caring for the baby once her husband returns to work because her family does not live in town. The intervention that I would implement is support system enhancement. One outcome that I would want for this patient would be to identify at least one source of help outside of her immediate family, such as a support group for new mothers, that she can turn to for advice on caring for her child by the time she is discharged. According to Cheng, Fowles, and Walker, talking in a support group can benefit child rearing skills and interpersonal relationships (2006).…

My expectations was that I was hoping the baby wouldn’t bother me while I played basketball but it did which kind of annoyed me and got me angry, but I was able to control my anger. Children act out for a variety of reasons, but as they grow older, their actions might reflect an ongoing developmental or mental issue. According to Zagel et al. , (2013), a mother working full-time before their child's age of eighteen months encountered unfavourable developmental consequences compared to other mothers who were working part-time or were unemployed. However, the negative effects were dependent on type and quality of non-maternal childcare used by working mothers (Zagel et al., 2013). There are also some other factors associated with negative emotional and behavioural outcomes such as social factors, including benefits receipt, housing tenure, maternal education and also maternal depression, anxiety and everyday stressors (Zagel…
