In the Navajo stories equality is being featured, both both male and female, either god or human they are equal. First man and women say to the people, “ ‘Learn from your neighbors who live in pueblo how to cultivate beans and corns’ ” (World Mythology 501.) This evidence reveals that the Navajo people are friendly and there is no dominance of one group over the other. The Pueblo story also expresses the belief of equality. Spider Woman, Ut Set, and Nau Ut Set use different color stones and create the moon and sun, then after everything was set in place, “Spider Woman used the clay of earth, the red, the yellow, the white and black clay and with this she made people” (Spider Woman handout). Like the Navajo, the Pueblo also value every individual and respect everyone, it show that there is no one being superior than the other. The Japanese story The Creation of the Universe begins with equality and ended with inequality because Izanami spoke out of turn. After Izanagi and Izanami established their home, they separated in the opposite direction to explore the island. “ Izanami exclaimed, ‘how wonderful! I met a handsome young man!’ “ ‘ Izanami gave birth to their first child. Instead of an island, it was a disgusting leech child” ( World Mythology 371). “ The god replied, ‘ Izanami gave birth to a useless child because she does not appear to know her proper place’ ” ( World Mythology 371). In the Japanese culture they believe that when a woman speak first she bring bad luck to the family. Another story that is similar in terms of human equality is the Genesis story. It also started out with equality, but because Adam and Eve were tempted by the serpent, they ate the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Their eyes were opened and they realized that they were naked. God asked “ ‘ Who told you that you were naked?’ ” (Genesis 3:8). Adam and Eve were no longer innocence because they broke the rule and it leads to inequality between them. To Eve he said, “ ‘ I will greatly multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children, yet your desire shall be for you husband, and he should rule over you’ ”(Genesis 3:16).
