Inequality is a form of negative concept that takes away the rights from people to live freely. It has been a topic of debate for hundreds of years. The discrimination can take place in any community or society depending upon the treatment they get from others. It depends upon whether people distinct themselves from others on the basis of class, gender, social status or race. The research talks about the inequality that people face at their work environments and how the discrimination affects them. How these inequalities can be overcome. Inequality at work is a form of discrimination that occurs due to biased environment of work creating unequal and unfair opportunities for the workers due to their race, gender, social class and age. Black people suffer the most from racism and get socially isolated. When compared to the whites it is the black community that is found to be the least employed and have less human capital. “Lack of promotions, discounted opinions, low wages, and long working hours were examples used to describe these experiences, among which lack of promotions was the pre- dominant explanation of racial inequality” (Gu, 2015, p. 133). The whites due to their skin colour treat black men and women unequally. African-Americans are more likely to be discriminated because of their education qualifications. White men and women believe the black people to be less educated and have a lower level of social class. “In the absence of being able to demonstrate requisite informal characteristics necessary for promotion like whites, their formal human capital credentials are closely scrutinized and become important criteria for upward mobility” (Wilson, 2009 ,p. 1153). The racial discrimination can be seen in the case when the white individual hve the same education and experience as the racial minority individual, however the white is more likely be hired. Racial inequality is also produced at a work place due to lack in social networking and self-motivation for the racial minority groups. Even if these inequalities are used as tactics to motivate workers to compete it doesn’t mean to make them challenge on the basis of their class, gender, race or age. The stereotype of inequality is hard to remove as this stereotype one-way or the other attacks everyone. Social isolation can become a cause for the inequality. The society should encourage people who get socially isolated rather than discriminating them. The barrier of gender, class, age and race should be removed and all the workers should be considered equal and even their contributions towards work as all the workers work in the same environment and have a single motive to produce
