None of the directions within the lesson, student guide, or assignment really made it clear on which video I am supposed to critique. So I have decided to critique the first video which is titled “Ineffective Public Speaking.”

As soon as you see Dan even before he beginnings speaking you can see he is not in proper attire, you can also tell he has major anxiety being in the ‘spotlight”. He is sweating and looks very out-of-place which is not a good sign. As he beginnings speaking he is speaking in a tone that makes it seem like he is not very interested. He then seems to start mumbling and or stuttering on his words, which could be a sign that he was not prepared for this.
As he goes on he starts looking around at different things. Although

Ulises Gonzalez 2nd Self-Critique In general, I felt the presentation went well, but after reviewing the video, there are a number of areas I need to improve. First of all, I started well because I presented myself to the audience, I did not have my hands in my pockets, and I was not playing around with my hands, so the first part went really well in general. The presentation was well explained, but it could have been more developed and interesting. The organization was well structured since it addressed everything it was supposed to, but it could have been better because the presentation used the ideas of the paper, and I did not implement new ones.…

The only things that were ineffective to me were that there was no actual person in the video. The video is lacking that personal connection. Being able to see facial expressions and body language is important and this was missing. The other is the speed of the speech, it was a little fast and with the drawing it would be nice for the speech to be a little…

Noah Newkirk - Your eye contact and facial expressions definitely help sell yourself because you seem very engaged with the question. It also really helps to show your confidence. Additionally, I really like your introduction and I think that it answers the initial question very effectively. This strong introduction creates a good flow going into your STAR formatted answer. For the final video, I would make sure that you aren't reading from a script because it made you lose the conversational tone and would cause you to become tripped up.…

I believe my delivery in this speech seemed to be better than my informative speech. Three specific nonverbal behaviors I noticed in this speech were the use of hand gestures, moving and using gestures, and eye contact. Most of my hand gestures were used in a good way, some were unnecessary but overall they were good. One way I would use them is by pointing at the photos on my visual aid. At 0:10 I pointed to my attention slide with pictures of cats and dogs.…

Theatre kids call the auditorium their home, Even though they know it’s not really their place, But the actors can lighten up the room, and it should be known, As they walk in with their way too small costumes and the true grace resting on their faces. Whenever musical actors waltz into the dining rooms, they glimmer, The glassware shines like red solo cups when compared to these individuals, It’s amazing how much hard work theatre kids put into their parts so the rest of the cast can shimmer, the fun times and memories hold dear could almost be called criminal.…

My problem I have in my life is public speaking as from an early age I began taking speech therapy classes once a week until the start of middle school. These therapy sessions helped me to be able to start speaking in public. However, the real issue that came with public speaking was not due to the fear of the people itself but rather the mental anxiety of stuttering or slurring a word in the progression of a speech or a presentation completely destroys my confidence of the delivery. In this sense putting attention to the fact that I had a speech impediment at an early age only forced the idea in my head that I will make a mistake while speaking in front of a crowd. In middle school almost every class required a oral presentation on a quarterly…

“Alright, who can explain global warming?” asked my seventh-grade science teacher. I visualized the entire process in my mind: greenhouse gases, light coming from the sun, heat trapped in the earth’s atmosphere, melting glaciers, and rising sea levels. I started raising my hand slowly. But suddenly, a familiar fear fell over me. Paralyzed, I sat disconnected from the entire class with trembling knees and a dry throat.…

When it comes to public speaking, I am the furthest thing from an expert. Although, after many years and classes of communications I would say that I have a pretty good idea of the do’s and don’ts when it comes to presentations. Hypocrisy should be my middle name because even though I know what to look for in a presentation I still am a terrible speaker. In my opinion, the speaker Phil Han would receive a six out of ten. This score is based off of a number of things including content, public speaking style, organization, and more, which I will address later on.…

I have this fear. It causes my legs to shake, and my sweat to build. The abrupt feeling that you would get when a roller coaster has just hit it’s peak, and you have less than one second to prepare for it plunges downward. When you are falling in a dream, and there is nothing there to help you stand up. At this point in my education, I would assume this discontent would disappear.…
