Most of the teachers follow a new style of teaching, which requires students to work in groups in order to benefit from each other. However, this style can be ineffective if the text that is provided to each group does not have clearly stated guidelines. It also can be ineffective if it does not specify who should work with whom, especially in science classes where the abilities of one person varies from another. In most of these cases, one or two of the members take the responsibility for an entire assignment. As a result, some students will not receive the grades that they deserve and the whole group will not achieve the maximum benefit.

As a result, the work turns out to be messy and unorganized. Also, some of the group members will take on more responsibilities than others and others will not contribute in solving the problems on the worksheet although their names are written on it. On the other hand, specifying tasks written in the text for each of the four members in the group ensures the contribution of all of the group members. An example of the four tasks that can be written in the text would be: reading the problem out loud, writing the solutions, doing the computations and calculations, and checking the work. The person who does one task in this session will do another task in the next session. Additionally, as the abilities vary from one person to another, choosing groups randomly or letting each person sitting next to another to form their own group is not effective. Instead, specifying the names of persons who should work together on the worksheet based on their abilities and skills insures that each group has almost equivalent skills. Testing abilities and skills can be obtained by a pre-quiz before the beginning of the discussion section. For example, a group of students with high skills could finish up and leave the class early. It affects students in a way that limits their understandings. If the worksheet did not meet its goal of training the students to solve and understand physics problems, the students will have difficulty in understanding the material. As a result, they may not receive a good grade. Also, for students within a group, it will be unfair to give students who worked hard on solving the worksheet the same grade as the students who did not contribute to the group work. Moreover, due to the failure of the physics worksheet to serve its goal, the teacher evaluation could be affected. Students will not rate the teacher as a good teacher and may comment on his ineffective teaching method. As a result, the teacher could no longer teach in this university. Furthermore, it is the university’s responsibility to bring good teachers to educate its students in effective ways. Bringing unskilled teachers affects the university rating among other universities. For example, a good teacher who lacks the effective method of teaching may have a difficulty in communicating what he is trying to deliver.
