Alan was a well-known figure in his community and was always involved however he now seems to have ‘little contact with the world outside his care home’ so he is losing his confidence and has low self-esteem which is seen as a psychological barrier so he may not feel comfortable communicating as he might feel that no one understands him or might read negative sub-texts in the communication message he hears. It is a crafty scheme that allow individuals to remember the four stages much better then something they may not. However when working in a care home, having a group interaction could be an ineffective form of communication as not every individual’s views will be heard and taken into account. For example, a service provider could be side tracked if there is background noise while someone is complaining about a pain they are having. If this is the case then it is important that the service providers pay close attention to all service users and talk to them on a one to one basses so that the individual feels content and happy. Alan is ‘losing his physical capability because of his illness’ so he feels that attention is only given to the things he cannot do, this shows lack of communication as the service user is feeling helpless. In a setting such as a care home service providers should have a healthy communication on a one to one basses with the service user not only about their physical wellbeing but also the emotional wellbeing of the individual so that they do not feel neglected or helpless like
