Have you ever thought about the working conditions in the coal mines, the way children and women are being treated or how our buildings and inventions are modernizing? The Industrial Revolution began in 1750 and can be described as a new way of doing things. Some people think that the Industrial Revolution is a negative time for Britain and some people believe it is a positive time. In contrast, my position about the Industrial Revolution is that it is both a positive and negative time for us. I will make my case by analyzing six aspects of the Revolution including the modernizing of buildings and inventions, industrial production, conditions in the coal mines and the way working woman and children are being treated. Furthermore, I will provide ideas on how to overcome the negative aspects of the Industrial Revolution.

The first example of the positive effects can be found in industrial production. The reason I believe this is that we now have new machinery like the steam engine. Also, Britain is prosperous enough to afford this new machinery. Another example can be found in the area of modern buildings. Our architecture has been modernized, the middle class is getting better homes and the people on the streets were able to live in houses. Although the wealthy built their homes west of the factories so the smoke would blow away from them. Additionally, the Industrial Revolutions inventions have been modernizing. There have been advancements in medicine and technology like vaccines, the telephone, the lightbulb, and X-Rays. New inventions are improving the efficiency and improved productivity in the factories. Clearly, the Industrial Revolution did have positives during its
