The idea of an advertisement is to make a quick and easy argument using pictures and texts that link together. When someone questions what an argument is? The idea of a verbal or written argument is the first thought that comes to mind. There are several types of arguments, the two most important ones being inductive and deductive reasoning. Inductive reasoning refers to drawing a conclusion based on examples. Where deductive reasoning is drawing a conclusion based on probability. Both examples of reasoning’s are imperative when deciding whether an argument is good or bad. Statistics in an advertisement is essential when arguing a claim. Factual numbers may convince viewers that texting while driving is truly dangerous and has many consequences. According to the National safety council the text reads, “That’s why, each year, an estimated 100,000 crashes have been tied to texting and driving, while an additional 1.2 million crashes involve other cell phone use”. Distracted driving is a dangerous epidemic on America’s roadways and the facts provided within the advertisement prove that claim. The National Safety Council, nsc.org, is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to save lives by preventing injuries and deaths at work, in homes and communities, and on the road through leadership, research, education and advocacy. While researching the nsc.org web page I came across many important facts and statistics regarding using cell phones while driving. One being an article titled “Distracted Driving: One Call Can Change Everything”. The article discusses many factual evidence and experiences of drivers driving while handling a cellular device. Many distractions exist while driving, but cell phones are a top distraction because so many drivers use them for long periods. Almost everyone has seen a driver distracted by a cell phone, but when you are the one who is distracted, you often do not realize that driver is you. Although the BMW ad only focuses on how texting while driving is a distraction the National Safety Council committee web page probes deeper than that. The committee argues not only texting while driving is dangerous but also the use of any cellular mechanism approach while driving is threatening. Studies show that Hands-free devices do not eliminate cognitive distraction. According to the NSC committee states, “The brain not only juggles tasks, it also juggles focus and
