Individuality Vs Conformity Research Paper

To many students school is a place where you lose all of your freedom. In some schools it is even worse because you also lose the freedom of wearing any clothing you want to. School uniforms take away that freedom. Schools with uniforms claim that they are creating a level playing field between students and that it helps students stay more focused on school work rather than what you are wearing but this is nowhere near true. School uniforms are a bad thing because they take away creativity, and individuality creating conformity. They also cause students to rebell and do things that they wouldn’t normally do otherwise. Though schools claim that uniforms help students they really don’t do anything but cause more trouble.
First school uniforms take away creativity. Wearing the exact same clothing every day can be discouraging to students as clothing can be a nondisruptive way for students to show passion for things (Four reasons public schools should think twice before instituting school uniform policies). Many schools have dress codes which rightfully keep the clothing that students wear modest, but it goes to far when a school completely takes away wearing almost anything by instituting a school uniform. Many believe that the individuality of students is being hindered by school uniform policies. Some students don’t even bother doing their hair in the morning because they want to stare at their phone for as long as they can before school
