Aldous Huxley's distopian novel A Brave New World explores what a future society with advanced technology would include. In the novel the governments, or World States motto is "COMMUNITY, IDENTITY, STABILITY." (1.1) The way the government brands themselves is pretty contradicting. For example the society claims they promote identity when they genetically modify citizens to be born into five specific castes through a process called the "Bokanovasky Proccess" in which " A bokanovskified egg will bud, will proliferate, will divide. From eight to ninety-six buds, and every bud will grow into a perfectly formed embryo, and every embryo into a full-sized adult. Making ninety-six human beings grow where only one grew before." (1.12)Within these certain castes, from a very young age, the people are taught to act with the precise attitude as everyone else in their caste. When a human is made through the"Bokanovasky Process" how is that person supposed to identify themselves when nearly ninety-five can identify themselves as the exact same person.
