Ayn Rand’s beliefs are centered around the culture and lifestyle she was exposed to as a child in Russia. Her new ideals and the development of objectivism stem from her hatred of communism and the search for the “ideal man.” I expect that in reading Atlas Shrugged, the book will clearly demonstrate her feelings of what constitutes an admirable character. Her background suggests the underlying theme of the novel will have ties to individualism and making the most out of life. Her characters may exhibit similar qualities to those of herself. Ayn Rand was not a person that told society what they wanted to hear. The novel will go against the popular philosophy from her time.
