3. I think Antigone was the hero in this play because she has the courage to face Creon and argue that the law he made was wrong. She said all men should be treated as equal.
4. I think Creon was the villain in this play because he killed Antigone who doesn’t agree with his law. As a result, it influenced his son Haimon and the Queen’s suicide.

In addition, Creon also argued with his son Haimon.

6. Kalokagathia is the Greek value that something is well balanced. Sophrosyne is also one of the Greek value that individual should practice moderation and self-control. I think Haimon is one example of the sophrosyne because he controls himself and puts into practice to convincing his father that his idea is wrong. Antigone seems too eager to bury her brother Polyneices. Creon got angry when his son Haimon try to convince him that his idea is wrong. Stemming from Aristotle’s views on tragedy, there must be an action that is serious, complete and of a certain magnitude that can arouse the feeling of pity or even fear by incidents that occur throughout the play. In Antigone by Sophocles, tragedy is portrayed throughout the piece by the protagonist. Many grasp onto the assumption that Antigone is the tragic heroine. Although she contains many qualities that meet specific tragedy criteria, it is Creon who is the tragic hero. Due to Creon’s stubbornness and rash decision making, many find it hard to believe that he is the most tragic; however, based on his moment of anagnorisis and his agonizing outcome from his pathos, he is easily defined as the protagonist.…

As a result, the people of Thebes recognize this abuse of power and express their fears through not only the chorus but also his son, whom he both chooses to disregard. Finally, Creon not only abuses the people of Thebes with his power, but also uses it to offend the Gods by intentionally breaking their divine laws.…
