Individual Reflection
Throughout the production of the video and group report, I contributed in terms of ideas generation and carrying out the plans. During the initial stage of the video production, we discussed as a group on the social issue to focus on. I suggested a few ideas and shared justifications as well as some scenes I have in mind for each idea. After we finalized the social issue I participated in the discussion to form our story plot by suggested some scenes and shooting angles from other public service announcement videos, dramas and movies that left an impact on me as an audience. Then, we drafted the script for each role, including the perpetrator, victim’s monologue and bystanders for both scenes with and without intervention.

Then, we distributed into three group, each focusing on a part in the report. I was involved in Part A, which explained the background of the social issue. Together with my group mates, I researched on the existing literature that defined and explained the theoretical basis behind catcalling. Besides that, I researched on the negative implication of catcalling which justifies the importance of addressing it as well as the potential outcomes of our video. After everyone in our group agreed on the points, we started writing the report. I helped elaborating points on Part C to strengthen our justification of utilizing the theories in our video. Everyone gave feedback on the drafted report and we refined all Part A, B, and C …show more content…
Despite having past experiences of being catcalled, I had minimal distressed from that and just felt unsafe at that moment. After researching on catcalling, it is shocking to be aware of the serious consequences to the victim, both physically and mentally. Some victims lost their lives when catcalling escalated into rape and sexual assault, whilst some suffered mental disorders including anxiety and depression long after the incident. However, the victims rarely receive support from the society; in fact, they are deemed as weak and pressured for that. This reminds me that people may have different reaction towards a similar event, and nobody’s feelings, behavior or cognition should be

I first became interested in counseling when I was helping a friend with serious drug related problems and family problems seek help and counsel from advisors. Being just sixteen, I didn’t know how to help him efficiently and felt both powerless and helpless at trying to find adequate resources and services to help him deal with his problems. While I did eventually find counseling services and potential help for him, the effects of his psychological problems were so brutal that he committed suicide. This profound experience of losing a close friend to suicide forced me to develop a strong interest into understanding the role, guidance and motivations that leads people to such extremes. At this point, I had already cultivated the desire to…

As an incoming freshman in August of 2015 taking Rhetoric 105, I not only learned how to take apart papers, summarize, paraphrase, analyze and construct passages, but overall to be a great thinker. There are many ways that a person can tell you that works to become a better thinker, but it starts within you. While writing papers this fall semester, I learned that my writing became better when I a. understood what was being asked of me via the criteria, b. allowed myself to make mistakes in order to understand what I was and wasn 't doing correctly, c. I started to question myself, not in a way of was the work too hard, but in the sense of what the assignment and the thesis I am creating is asking. At this stage, you have to be completely real…

It has only been three weeks and I have never had a class that has personally affected me as much as this one. This week’s reading, “The Social Construction of Unreality: A Case Study of a Family’s Attribution of Competence to a Severely Retarded Child” by Pollner and McDonald-Wilker, really made me question my entire life and the role that my family has had in my education. I am in my second year at UCLA with a full scholarship for tuition and very minimal loans. Granted I have had some ups and downs with my GPA, I have overall been managing my grades. As a student, you can say I have been quite successful.…

I think that reflected appraisal has had a tremendous effect on the way that I act. One of the things that I have reflected on and have come to the conclusion of is that growing up, particularly in high school, one of the comments that I frequently got was that I am “very sassy.” It was not usually in a negative situation either, most of the time the person would make the sassy comment after I made retort about an action I thought was stupid or unnecessary and it usually resulted in a ripple of laugher. I feel as though, because of the positive result of the situation and the joking comment, I associated being sassy and making people laugh. As I have grown, and in the situation that I am in currently, I have come to realize that if I am in a foul mood, instead of people thinking that my sassiness is funny, they instead have turned it to me “being a bitch.”…

Self reflection is the mental process that acquires knowledge and understanding through thoughts and experience which helps encourage self awareness. This essay focuses on assessing my objectives and how I have developed my skills from the beginning of this semester until now. At the start of semester A, I wasn’t confident in preparing for the skills sessions and workshops. I wasn 't always able to find the correct answers to the workshop questions set which made it relatively difficult for me to participate in lectures despite finding myself at the library every other day. I began by listening to knowledge based lectures online and making notes alongside the recommended reading given by my lecturers or the module guide.…
