My leadership philosophy is all about motivating and inspiring Soldiers with some tactics (ie: listen to your Soldiers and trust them). Of course there are some other aspects of leadership such as trust between Soldier and leader, knowing the subordinate, care of the Soldier’s needs, and encouragement about seeking higher education and self improvement. Besides those aspects of leadership I’d like to emphasize on motivation and inspiration based on my personal experience. Since this is about my leadership philosophy, I will utilize my daily life event to explain better.
Let me try to explain it with my experience at my duty station. Currently I’ve been working at Brigade COMSEC office for more than a year since my 35P MOS is over strength within my BDE. This is about my first day here at SLC in Ft. Huachuca, AZ. Prior to coming to this place I thought I was ready for this school. When the class started, I immediately felt a sense of inferiority complex in the company of my peers due to my lack on knowledge and language barrier. I also began to notice my oral communication skill getting worse. However, during the initial counseling session with my Small Group Leader (SFC Swaim), he noticed that I didn’t write any virtue of me on the counseling and began asking about my background and my accomplishments at work. It didn’t take long before he praised me for my virtues and strong qualities that enabled me to achieve my rank of Sergeant First Class in the United States Army. Although we spoke less than 15 minutes, I noticed my motivation was getting stronger and my confidence was higher.
