Have you ever thought of the color indigo as a sad or gloomy color? I think that it is. The amounts of sadness and depression that the characters deal with in ‘Of Mice and Men” show that indigo is the best color that represents this novel.
One of the characters in the story that shows this is George. George lives a life as a poor laborer, which is sad enough on its own. But then at the end of the novel, specifically page 106, George had to shoot his best friend Lennie to make sure Lennie has a peaceful death. This is because Lennie accidentally killed Curley’s wife, and Curley was so angry by this he wanted to make Lennie suffer. So George did the best thing he could to keep Lennie from being tortured.
