Indie Pop Concert Observation

Improved Essays
Over the course of this past summer I have had the opportunity to attend numerous live shows ranging from the traditional deep southern sounds of bluegrass, to the stylistic hard and raw sounds of rock and roll. Standing apart from all the rest, a new up and coming Indie Pop band, put on quite literally the greatest show I’ve ever seen. At that concert I experienced a feeling of true exhilaration. Nothing else can come close to the feeling right before they took stage, when the lights cut out, leaving everyone in absolute darkness and all you could hear was the manic roar of the awaiting crowd. The energetic opening acts; Cruisr and Joywave, both arising American Indie rock bands, certainly did their job of warming up the crowd for the main …show more content…
Front man Jack Antonoff, member of the Grammy award winning band Fun, led his side project, the Bleachers to the well know club The Label. It was their first time headlining in Charlotte, North Carolina this past June. I waited in line for four hours alongside my best friend to obtain the ultimate concert-goers dream, the front of the mosh pit. From there I was able to experience the band up close and personal and I did not dare miss a thing. The band had a unique stage presence along with very unique sounds and styles. Each member put fourth their best efforts into playing their instruments with such energetic poise. You can tell from a mere glance at Jack, with his popping neck vein and his sweat soaked “Let’s Go Mets” tank top, that he pours his heart and soul into his own original songs every night. The band feed off of the excitement of the crowd and the fans who have memorized every beat and every word of every song. They jump along the entire night, not slowing down for a second, with the audience whom they have mesmerized the palm of their hand. I felt there was no existing barrier between the fans and the band, in fact …show more content…
If you were to hear one of their songs on the radio you would immediately know it was them and start singing along, just like you would with a catchy 80’s song. Antonoff has accomplished things his former bands, Fun has yet to and Steel Train never did. It was a great move on his part to branch out and expand his musical creativity and share it with the world through his band’s new album, Strange Desire. The entire album has achieved something that not many bands today have, absolute inspiration. With each listen the album gets better and better and you take something different away each time. It’s an almost concept album without a concept. All the songs are interpreted in their own way, whether you chose to drown yourself in the youthful scene or become entranced with the love that is portrayed, it is surely an album that will define the sounds of your summer. The songs they write put people in a sentimental mood and give off a positive sensation, much like songs of the 80’s did. Listening to the album makes you want to throw away your iPhone and go experience it firsthand because it’s too good not to. The best part is that the band sounds exactly the same live as they do on the recorded

As stated before, my group and I were actually approached by one of the band 's members due to the fact that he noticed our papers. Also, in the middle of the session the band actually allowed an audience guy to join them as a vocalist. I am assuming the guy who joined them was known by the band 's vocalist since he invited him up to take his position and he actually did an amazing job. Furthermore, I also want to mention that I really enjoyed the fact that the song that the guy from the audience sang was a Spanish song.…

Every day, I try to listen to a new piece of music. Whether it be a string group, unaccompanied choir, or even a percussion consort, I believe that by doing this, so much can be learned from just listening. About the mid-month of July, I came across this piece of music. I thought it was extremely fun and quirky at the same time! I had continued to listen to it, read some background information on the piece, and do a small amount of study on the work.…

I’m glad I had the chance to see both unfamiliar and familiar bands live. From the slower, quieter songs which pierced your heart with poetic lyrics and somber sounds to the upbeat songs that made you feel like everything would be alright. There’s nothing like the deafening music and cheers, the sound of the crowd singing along, and the feeling that everyone is suddenly on the same wavelength. Personally, as someone who has always loved words and learning how to better make use of them, I feel like music that has lyrics such as the ones The Neighbourhood, Manchester Orchestra, and Chappo have is the only kind of music that can really provide that level of…

The Rocking Dead: A Zombie Musical On November first, 2015 I went to the performance “The Rocking Dead: A Zombie Musical” at Center of the Arts in Coral Springs. Typically I am not the sort of individual to take a seat and appreciate a live musical performance, yet this one was extremely satisfying. Subsequent to the one-hour drive to Coral Springs I was welcomed by a young lady in the entrance of the lobby who was extremely kind and supportive as to where to enter for the musical. After entering through the entryways I anticipated that the musical would be in an assembly hall of a much greater scale.…
