On this project I worked with Savanna Addis and Jared Liddle. They were awesome partners on this project. In the first stages; Savanna came up with the starting idea for our car as well as the main points of our test plan. In the days that followed directly after we adjusted the plans and drawings, but the work was still based off of Savanna’s original ideas. Jared ended up building our first car. This car was a great start to help us figure out some problems in our original idea. After trying to fix the first car, I made a second design that we ended up using for our testing instead of using the original car that Jared made.

Personal Write-Up For the Mousetrap Car assignment, the car Emperor Kuzco started as a standard template using CD wheels, wooden axles, siding, and lever, and a mousetrap. There were two cars that were constructed for this project, however only one was used for testing.

The team was able to adapt to problems with the first car, as well as construct an entirely new car to help improve the timing and distance that the car was able to accomplish with the first design. Ultimately the team was very happy with the performance of the tested car compared to that of the first car that was tested even after adjustments. The second car was less susceptible to friction due to its new design. The kinetic energy and momentum, however, decreased in the second car due to its loss in speed. However, the team was more greatly focused on the distance it gained rather than the speed it obtained. So, overall it was successful. As far as efficiency goes, it was extremely low with only being at eleven percent efficiency. This shows that while mousetrap powered cars may look to be easy to construct and may seem efficient, but the cars that are driven around today are much better to get around to

Though this car may seem like the solution to numerous problems, it comes with its disadvantages. As a result of increased use of self-driving cars, a large cut on public transportation jobs may occur. In addition, extreme weather conditions may play a role in affecting the efficiency of the car. Despite these, a number of advantages come with this marshmallow-shaped vehicle. It allows for more personal time and the opportunity for the elderly and the physically impaired to experience the thrill of driving.…

One thing that surprised me about the car was that the car tires were filled with nitrogen gas instead of compressed air. Nitrogen is a colorless and odorless non-toxic gas used to reduce the temperature of the tire and increase its lifespan. In races, it may be able to keep tire pressure more constant and slow pressure loss without reacting to the tire and rim materials. Another thing that surprised me about the car was its design and build. What really caught my eye was that the inside of the body shell of the car.…

I created new opportunities for my teammates by distributing and sharing leadership. I listened to all ideas or suggestions from each member of this team, that everyone had a voice and was heard. I assigned sections of the invention to each person so each had ownership in success the design. As a team, we all need to agree or disagree with the group’s decision and live with the design and the direction that we take. I worked with my team to inspire them to keep our design simple and take mini steps to achieve our goal.…

Another concept thought of was aerodynamics. Many European race car companies had been testing aerodynamics for years. Race cars needed to be as sleek as possible so they could slip faster through the air. But they also had to be made a certain way so they could stay on the ground and not take off like a plane. Most race cars can achieve speeds close or past the average speed a plane takes off at.…

Automobiles have not changed much in the last 60 years. While they have gotten faster, safer, and more efficient, there have not been any major changes in the technology used since the first cars were brought to market in the early 1900s. They still use an internal combustion engine, use gasoline as fuel, emit exhaust that harms the environment, require fueling up at gas stations, need oil changes, and have many moving parts, making it more likely something breaks and needs repaired. It is time to revolutionize the automotive industry and fix all of these problems and more. There is one type of car that can do that: electric cars.…
