First of all, as aforementioned, I joined the FWCC which helped me to join show choir at my middle school in both 7th and 8th grade. Show choir immensely helped me make lifelong friends and improve my musical ability. Also, in both 7th and 8th grade, I joined the debate team along with my best friend. As a team, we placed 1st in both years in the local debate competition. Being on the debate team really helped me learn to professionally debate and improve my confidence. I still use the skills from debate in my history and English classes whenever we debate and having a strong sense of confidence has definitely helped me in general throughout high school. At the end of my 8th grade year, there was an awards ceremony for all of the high achieving 8th graders. I won awards in Math, English and Social Studies and I also won a presidential award for my high academic achievements and grades. Winning those awards really helped me to push myself freshman and sophomore years to strive to do my personal best, motivate me to always to my homework, and not

Upon my entry into English 1010-02, my first college writing class, I expected to breeze through the course with an easy-A and minimal effort after my successful completion of AP English 11 this past year. I began the year with the utmost confidence in my writing abilities, and believed that my skills were above par. It wasn’t until I received my score on the essay evaluation for my First-Week Essay- a measly five out of twenty- that I realized that this was not the case. At first, I was astonished that my seemingly exceptional writing skills had not earned me the A that I believed I deserved. However, as time went on I came to the realization that I had not put in nearly enough time or effort into the paper to receive more than a C at most.…

I feel that taking up INFO 200 was one of the best decisions I have ever taken at the University Of Washington. It has opened a whole new perspective of looking at things for me. Previously any new technological discoveries or advances used to make me compute in my mind about the things used to create it, the data structures and the language that goes into making it, etc. However, after taking up this class my perspective has shifted to things like the design issues, the flaws with the user interface, the depth of a website, etc. Ultimately I feel that people’s perspective of technology is much better and makes more sense because ultimately each and every evolution of technology developed is for people.…
