The Independent sector is the opposite of the Statutory sector, where the statutory sector is public, the Independent sector is private. As the name alludes, it acts independently from national or local government organisations. The main difference between an Independent and Statutory run school is mainly the funding which is received and where it comes from. Due to Statutory schools being reliant on state subsidies, Independent schools have more freedom on what they can teach, and whom they would like to hire to do so. For example, a faith Independent school may choose to teach certain subjects such as Religious Education differently in comparison to how a state school may want to teach it. However, it is arguable what type of school is better;
