Ranked thirteenth on U.S. News and World Report's "Best Paying Jobs" and making an average of $58 per hour, becoming a pharmacist would be an appealing career. On the other hand, the six to eight years of college along with multiple large tests would drive numerous people away. Pharmacists' responsibilities vary from the obvious, filling prescriptions, to informing patients about the medication and general health tips. Independent pharmacies are a prime example of a business not being all about the money and profit. Pharmacists who own a pharmacy are inclined to have more time on their hands. As a result, they are more likely to be able to shape exclusive relationships with each customer inevitably causing the customer service to acclimate. As chief operating officer of the AAP, Semingson knows what it takes to succeed in the independent world.
