In 1848 the Declaration of Sentiments was led by multiple women. The main issue was that women were treated as poor and not given rights entitled to men. Many women joined organizations fighting and protesting for their rights. The chance to fight and earn independence for women started a momentous movement across America. Elizabeth Cady Stanton was one of these powerful woman during this time period. Through the many hours fighting for rights she wrote the Declaration of Sentiments, stating how both men and women are created equal and should be treated as such.
