Increasing Crime In America

The crime rate in America is steadily decreasing but nonetheless crime remains , 63.8% of which are aggravated assaults, 27.3% robbery, 1.3% murder and 7.5% rape. Guns were used in almost three quarters of the murders, nearly 41% of the robberies and about a quarter of the aggravated assaults in 2015, and 3 quarters of the countries murders. Violent crime rates ticked up slightly that year, and is 16.5% lower than a decade ago. Yet, it remains nearly 373 violent crimes per 100,000 inhabitants in the United States of America.

These facts although shocking, remain true. Although these facts could be changed easily by raising the legal age allowing teenagers of 16 years and older to possess a gun. In case of a home invasion, by pointing a gun and shooting, you have wasted a life and will deal with the server trauma. However by calling the police and asking that they make the arrest, a life has been saved and said person does not have to deal with a dead body on their conscience. In case of an emergency, arms can be the most of use but in the wrong hands or under the wrong circumstances, it could have the opposite effect. Faced by uncertainty of safety, is a valid excuse for bearing arms however many drunk adolescents as young as 16 years old, also have the right to these dangerous weapons. Scientific studies have proved that your frontal lobe stops growing at the age of 18 to 20 therefore judgement is better and rational decisions occur less.
