There is a growth of elderly people within the next decade. Life expectancy has been increasing. With an increase in an older population and people who are living longer with chronic diseases, there is and increasing demand for more facilities, equipment, physicians, staff and ongoing education. With this increase in patients there is a shortage of primary care physicians, especially physicians who treat diseases more common to older people such as cancer, orthopedic and cardiovascular services. Hospital staff are also in demand to aid with the ongoing treatment.
