Being mindful helps individuals stay focus on the present and not dwell on previous trauma. Incorporating mindfulness by using techniques such as yoga and meditation can create more awareness of emotions and the way an individual thinks and deals with the stressful daily life situations. To be well aware of being mindful is to know how to regulate all types of experiences encounter during the lifespan of an individual. It can help alleviate many health symptoms and overall it can have a great impact on the well-being of an individual.     I am engaging in this form of contemplative practice because the subject of forgiveness is enormously complex because it depends on what type of area of forgiveness you are focusing on and in my case I am focusing on forgiving others when they offend and/or hurt my feelings. The way I plan to cultivate forgiveness is to practice mindfulness and meditation. For example, Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a well structured group program that teaches mindfulness meditation to relieve the symptoms of psychological, physical and psychosomatic suffering (Grossmann, 2004). Although MBSR is 8 to10 week program that requires active participations from the clients, the program has a broad benefit: according to Miller (1995), MBSR is effective method of treating anxiety disorder, and Grossmann’s meta analysis study (2004) proved that MBSR may have a positive effect on stress related mental illness, depression, and binge eating disorder.
