An Inconvenient Truth Analysis

Mr. Al Gore’s movie, An Inconvenient Truth, has received a lot of publicity due to its assertion that climate change has become one of the moral issues of our time. However, as the utilitarianism theory suggests, the locus of right and wrong is basically dependent on the consequences of choosing one action over other actions. Mr. Al Gore in his movie uses several claims to help educate human beings on their possible role in ensuring that they maintain practices that will help in preventing “dangerous” climate change. According to Gore, the changes that are noted in the climate are not beneficial and are harmful in general to human survival. Global warming, taking into account ideas from the movie, can be considered as a moral issue. According to Gore, it is everyone’s moral duty to ensure that they take care of their environment by preventing issues such as global warming, which is considered as the main reason behind climatic change in the universe. The earth’s temperature changes naturally due to activities such as a rise in sea level, changing precipitation, or the expansion of deserts. Such facts challenges the idea that global warming is viewed as a moral issue.
