The Brazilian Armed Forces have not been involved in warfare since the Second World War. Furthermore, the Brazilian Constitution established in 1988 says that Brazil must avoid international conflict unless to keep its Constitutional Powers, Law, and Order. Brazil is a continental country. It means that there are deployments all over the national territory. Actually, the Brazilian Army has some issues on defending the Amazon Rainforest from deforestation and theft of its natural resources. Moreover, the Brazilian Army helps to prevent incoming of drugs across the border and sometimes there are conflicts with international organizations like the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Therefore, the Brazilian Army faces the challenge of keeping its personnel constantly prepared to war fighting if necessary without getting directly involved in international warfare.
