An incident response plan is a list of instructions or guidelines that prepares the user what to in case there is an attack or security breach. An attack may be anything from a virus attack, power failure, fire, burst water pipe, to an ISP failure. The best solution would be to handle the situation in which the least amount of damage is taken and the amount of recovery time and costs is reduced. First, make sure to watch the Security Awareness Training which provides knowledge about the guidelines of how to handle fires.
2. Check all computer equipment to ensure that they are working properly.
3. Check for smoke detectors and make sure they are working.
4. Check for multiple fire-extinguishers and make sure they are nearby.
5. Training how to use a fire extinguisher is essential in case you need to use it.
6. Make sure to back-up sensitive data regularly in case of an attack.
7. Make sure to have a current backup in another secure area away from the site.
8. In case there is a power outage along with the fire, make sure to have a working flashlight. Check batteries if needed.
9. In a fire there might be dangerous toxic fumes, have a respiration kit ready in case.
Steps during a fire attack on a home computer
1. Immediately call 911 when fire occurs.
2. This is when the Security Awareness Training comes in use. Carefully follow the instructions that you have learned from the training.
3. Use the nearest fire extinguisher and use the training that you have learned on how to use a fire extinguisher to put out the fire.
