Islam gave us the basis to learn of ancient Greek philosophy, writings, and teachings; as well as the histories of all ancient societies and civilizations. Islam’s contributions to mankind are immeasurable. Yet, so are the contributions of India, and the Hindus; the contributions of the Chinese; the contributions of the Japanese; the contributions of the Mayans, the Aztecs, the Incas, the North American Indians . . . . The Roman Catholic Church was the prime factor in pulling the decimated populations of Europe back out of the Dark Ages and expanding learning where illiteracy existed before. It was undoubtedly slow in coming and prejudicial in its applications – but the leaders of the church had to grow as people, too – and need to grow, still.
Without any of these religions and cultures – we do not have the world as it is today. Could things have gone better? Could things have been more peaceful and less bloody? Could they even now? Maybe, if we actually followed the tenets of the beliefs put forth, instead of concentrating on forcing one belief as greater than another – as the only true
