While it is impossible to know every detail of what went on in the young queen’s life that does not mean that the entire movie can be portrayed as a guessing game with people trying to figure out what truly happened in history and what is merely an over exaggeration. Certain parts of the movie must have people wondering rather or not that truly happened. The Kensington system for example that is mentioned in the movie by Victoria which was the set of rules that was placed on her until literally the day she became queen in the movie as a way for her mother and Lord Conroy to have control over her. Apparently the Kensington system was very real. After Victoria’s father died Conroy began to pay the Duchess unqualified attentions and in her he saw access to power. (Williams) The parts of the movie where Victoria is not allowed to so much as walk the stairs are also accurate as the system was apparently a way for Conroy to exact total control over the young princess with the system involving constant surveillance of the little girl down to the most insignificant detail. The princess was also forbidden the company of others and was never left alone. (Williams) This one part of the movie is not only very much real and accurate but is portrayed well by Emily Blunt in the movie. One cannot imagine that not ever having any ounce of independence would have been fun and Blunt portrays the young girl's obvious frustration in an award winning
